flashback - july 2006
"...discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness;" (1 Timothy 4:7)
To my praying friends:
July was spent in in three different states. The first of which was Arizona. A youth group from Oregon was there for a week doing work projects and VBS in the community. Their help was much appreciated and even more so their ministry among the neighbors. One thing they do every year for the community is have a big get-together on the 4th of July with softball and fireworks. This was the first summer I was at Immanuel Mission and it was a great time.
During the second and third week I spent my time down at Southwest Bible Camp in Glenwood, New Mexico. I helped out doing various tasks such as dishes, cleaning, tech, and wherever else I could be useful. Pray for the Lord to use what was presented in a positive way to all who heard the messages.
After that I went back for a few days to Immanuel Mission. The idea was to help out when the youth group from California was here. They were well organized and I was not of much use. Ken and David Madgwick helped move Darell & Barbara Valdios out to the Mission on Monday and I was inspired to take off to Kansas with them on their way back on Tuesday. I took a student from here with me to spend a few weeks at Kansas Bible Camp. So, the last part of July was spent staffing at Kansas Bible Camp. The first weekend at KBC was a reunion for everyone involved at the camp during the era of the most recent director, John Denny.
Due to all the traveling around, limited Internet access at some locations, and overall busy schedule I have been quite a slacker in the area of communication. This is someone sort of expected for the busiest of the summer months. Only temporary though I am sure.
Thank the Lord for all who heard the message of the gospel at various camps this summer. Pray for it to be effective. Pray for the students here at Immanuel Mission who have not had any Christian influence over the summer. Thank the Lord for the three new staff he has sent thus far. Pray for more new staff for the new school year.
In Christ Alone,
Andrew Nelson
